Calendula Flower Uses

Calendula-One of my absolute FAVORITE medicinal plants. A part of the daisy family, this flower is known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties, and is often used in skin health. However, there are many uses for calendula.

Skin Benefits

Calendula is often made into a salve or lotion using oil infused with the flower. It is known to improve the production of collagen, which makes it PERFECT for keeping skin hydrated and healthy. Use it for eczema and other dry skin conditions.

Yeast Infections

Calendula ointment has been proven to be as effective as Metronidazole in treating BV and other vaginal Infections in women (Though is some cases, there may be a delayed effect). It is a good alternative for those looking for natural remedies.

Wound Healing

Calendula had been shown to heal wounds more quickly. Women who have had a cesarean section may use calendula ointment to heal their incision and continue to use to improve skin health. It may also help fight infection and relieve pain. Always ask a doctor before applying to an open wound.

Concerning Pregnancy: Trigger Warning

Do not use Calendula topically or otherwise while pregnant or if trying to become pregnant. There are some studies that suggest miscarriage is possible from the use of calendula.

WARNING

I am not a doctor or therapist. Always consult a medical professional before making changes concerning your health.
